Distribution of the frequency of occurrence of alleles by the calpastatin gene in sheep of different breeds (review)

The genetic diversity of modern populations domestic animals is very important for improving breeds, their adaptation to various environmental conditions, as well obtaining high-quality livestock products, in particular meat. calpastatin gene (CAST) considered one the promising markers growth intensity and meat quality. article presents an analysis literature review on CAST sheep from following countries: Asia, New Zealand, Iran, England, France, Poland, Russia. results scientific studies aimed at studying frequency occurrence CASTM CASTN alleles, CASTMM, CASTMN, CASTNN genotypes different breeds are summarized. On territory Russian Federation, number bred North Caucasus, Southern, Volga, Siberian Federal Districts has been studied. In all studied M allele significantly exceeded N was range 0,33–0,99, therefore, 0,01 0,67.
